Founders Agustina & Pedro Perez-Medrano
Famitours Travel Services / La Familia Travel was created
in 1972 with the purpose of bringing quality travel products to families
and businesses of the New York, New Jersey, and the Connecticut tri
state area. The companies’ founders Agustina and Pedro Perez-Medrano
believed that the heart of the country’s economic foundation
was in the family and the family business. So, when it came time to
name the company, Famitours seemed like a good choice.
Since its’ inception, its focus has been on the family oriented
and educational vacation and today this name carries with it more
that 30 years of experience. The idea for the company was simple:
excite, educate, and give experiences of a lifetime to families and
young adults through travel. Success had sprung and Famitours Travel
Services was born along with its’ Spanish speaking division
"La Familia Travel."
In 1999 the company had reached a crossroad and it was time to innovate,
explore, and diversify itself. The travel industry had changed into
somewhat of a monster. Competition was now fierce and it was time
for a fresh and new vision for the company. At this point, the entry
of Pedro Javier Perez-Medrano (Peter Perez) in the company occurred
and, unknowingly, the future of this company was born. Pete Perez
had one vision and one vision only, to bridge the gap.
He wanted to bridge the gap between suppliers and customers; bridge
the gap between technology and agents; bridge the gap between communities
and businesses; and bridge the gap between quality service and the
consumer. With that in mind, today we look at Famitours and see a
company who insures that quality travel products will reach customers
from suppliers. We see a company who has been called a pioneer in
the technological aspects of the travel industry. We see a company
who has made an unprecedented commitment to service of the consumer,
and last but certainly not least, we see a company who has made an
unrivaled commitment to give back and support the community around
it.
